- HAYMITCH ABERNATHY YOU BADASS MOTHERFUCKER. He’s a drunk and he’s surly, but there’s also like… There’s the fact that he’s been dealing with having to kill people and lose someone he probably sort of knew/grew up with in a “game” organized to keep people in line. I love that he has this developing…friendship of sorts with Katniss. They understand each other better than Peeta and Haymitch understand each other, though he cares enough about both of his charges that he is willing to genuinely help them. Ugh, and now he has to watch all of his old friends go back into the arena, some of whom he has known for years…
Also, I’ve decided that older!Haymitch is that roughishly handsome dude who actually cleans up really, really well—when he decides to. I mean, all indications are that he was kinda hot as a young man, so… (Look, I just really love Haymitch even with all his faults.)
- Also, I half-expected the video from the year Haymitch won to reveal that he was actually genuinely in love with Madge’s aunt. Except if that had been the case, I’m sure it would’ve come up already?
- I’m also still unsure how to feel about Peeta. Peeta, what is your appeal? Apart from the fact that you can bake. Can someone explain his appeal to me? I am genuinely curious.
- I’m kinda “eh” about Gale, too, come to think of it.
- For all my talk of Katniss/Cinna (which I enjoy if I must have a ship for her because he seems like one of the few dudes who actually legitimately cares about her), I actually don’t endgame ship Katniss with anybody. Like… I honestly and truly think that Katniss should just be on her own for as long as she wishes, which I think would go a long way towards making her less indecisive about a lot of things, but she’s not being given that opportunity. She’s just being shuffled around at the whims of the Capitol and it’s making things harder and harder for her to actually maintain some kind of stability. Which, I guess, is probably what the Capitol/President Snow wants.
- Also have I mentioned that I ship Haymitch with Effie because I ship Haymitch with Effie. They’re just the right amount of snarky and friendly that it works.
- Katniss clearly lives just to enjoy Capitol food, be a badass with the bow, and piss off Panem authority. I love it and I give no fucks for loving it.
- Finnick Odair, I’m not sure what to make of you. Most of the fandom seems to love you but I don’t know how I feel yet. You sound kind of like the guy I’d totally bang like a snare drum, though.
- Johanna Mason sure does like to get naked, doesn’t she?
