Day 14: Your favorite tribute (aside from Peeta/Katniss).
And aside from Finnick Odair, because I’ve already rambled about him a lot.
I have to admit, there’s something about Johanna Mason that I really kind of like. She’s snarky, really a little bit bitchy. She doesn’t appear to have any shame at all about her body. She’s from the District that deals with lumber (which is a plus because it means she grew up around trees and forest and I’m down for that). But there’s also something to her that is like…fragile. She’s got all the potential to be a badass—and she’s smart, considering she won her Games by fooling everybody into ignoring her—but it’s mostly a front to deal with how fragile she is, to avoid getting further hurt.
I like the sort of friendship she develops with Katniss. They get along pretty well together because they have, in my eyes, similar ways of dealing with people with the goal of protecting themselves.
Day 15: Your least favorite tribute (aside from Peeta/Katniss).
Glimmer, you could’ve had so much potential in showing that girly-girls could be just as powerfully deadly as the rest of the tributes, and instead you hang out with Cato and wind up getting felled by deadly tracker jackers.
Her status as my least favorite stems from the fact that it really feels like Collins wasted a perfectly good opportunity with her. True, if she’d spent time fleshing out every single tribute, the first book would’ve been three times as long, but all the same… It would’ve been interesting to see what sort of actual contender Glimmer could’ve been against Katniss.
Day 16: A question you wish had been answered in the book.
What the hell actually happened to Cinna?
This seriously fucking bothers me, because like…we see him get beat up and kidnapped in Catching Fire, and he’s only presumed dead in Mockingjay. The keyword is PRESUMED. As in, NOT CERTAIN. And yet, we never see him again. We get Effie and the style crew back, but not Cinna.
And yet I refuse to believe he’s actually dead and is just in hiding or something. Because there is totally a chance that he’s alive.
